Community Wellness Classes at ORSI
At ORSI, we are committed to promoting holistic wellness and mobility for everyone in our community. We’re excited to offer weekly movement and strength classes that are open to our patients, their friends, and family members. Each class is led by a licensed Physical Therapist who provides professional guidance and safe progressions tailored to your needs.
Whether you are recovering from injury, trying to stay mobile, or simply looking to build better strength and flexibility, these classes are structured to give you a strong foundation in movement health. The programming focuses on addressing what we often see in the clinic as common causes of pain or dysfunction. With a consistent weekly practice, our goal is to help you move with more ease and confidence in your daily life.
Class Focus Areas
Each session works on the following areas that commonly contribute to orthopedic issues when neglected:
- Improving flexibility in commonly tight muscle groups
- Restoring joint mobility in high-impact and load-bearing joints
- Building foundational strength in the core and supporting musculature
- Enhancing joint and postural stability for injury prevention
These elements not only support pain-free movement but also increase physical performance and reduce your risk of future setbacks. Flexibility work helps counteract the effects of prolonged sitting or repetitive movement patterns, while mobility work ensures your joints have the necessary range to function efficiently.
Strengthening exercises used in class focus on slow, controlled movements to train the body to activate the right muscles at the right time. Stability drills improve the communication between your brain and your muscles, helping you maintain control in everyday actions like walking, climbing stairs, or lifting objects.
All levels of experience and fitness are welcome. Participants must be able to bear some weight on their hands or elbows and should be able to safely transition to and from the floor. Each class will offer variations and props to accommodate different comfort levels. If you have specific concerns or physical limitations, your therapist can guide you on how to modify certain movements to suit your needs.
Regular participation in our wellness classes can also aid in improving balance and coordination. These components are crucial for older adults who may be at risk for falls, or athletes looking to refine performance. Working in a guided group setting allows you to learn proper technique while receiving feedback, ensuring long-term safety and improvement.
Led by Experienced Physical Therapists
Currently taught by ORSI Physical Therapist and certified Pilates Instructor, Marla Brooks, PT, DPT, these sessions combine clinical expertise with movement science. Marla brings years of orthopedic experience and a deep understanding of functional movement patterns. Her approach makes these classes both therapeutic and energizing.
Having an expert present in real time to observe and provide feedback ensures that movements are performed safely and effectively. This supervision is especially important for those recovering from injury or looking to build movement confidence before returning to other physical activities. Marla’s classes incorporate evidence-based strategies and exercise principles rooted in physical therapy research.
Marla’s background in Pilates provides a unique advantage to these classes, offering a strong focus on body control and alignment. This synergy between rehabilitation principles and Pilates methodology makes her sessions ideal for anyone looking to improve movement awareness, posture, and controlled strength. For patients transitioning out of physical therapy, this class can serve as a bridge to more independent movement practices.

Why Join a Wellness Class?
These group classes provide an excellent complement to your one-on-one therapy sessions. They are designed to reinforce your progress, help prevent future injury, and give you the confidence to move with freedom and control. The sense of community and shared motivation also helps many participants stay consistent and accountable to their health goals.
Group exercise in a therapeutic setting can reduce stress, increase mood, and promote healthier lifestyle habits. Participants often report feeling more energized, more connected with their body, and more in tune with how they move after attending just a few classes. The encouragement from others on the same journey can have a powerful impact on motivation.
