OrthoRehab Specialists’ Executive Performance Profile (EPP) is an advanced comprehensive screen utilizing five objectively measured tests to assess how your body integrates strength, stability, mobility, and coordination. This approach allows us to pinpoint muscle imbalances, identify asymmetries, assess injury risks and fall potential, evaluate your current level of performance, and correct movement patterns that may be holding you back. Whether you’re a professional athlete, weekend warrior, or simply looking to enhance your physical well-being, the EPP is designed to offer clear insights and actionable outcomes for individuals at every fitness level.
After the five tests are complete, one of our highly trained Doctors of Physical Therapy will analyze the results and design a personalized home program to address your unique needs. This program will improve your deficits, decrease injury risk, enhance performance, and correct movement patterns to prevent future dysfunction. Upon completion of your profile and implementation of your customized program, you will be enrolled into your Wellevate program for three months for free to assist you on your wellness journey. The components of the Executive Performance Profile are listed below and work together to provide a complete picture of your physical function and potential. The ultimate goal is to provide clients with long-term strategies for sustainable health improvements and a deeper understanding of their physical mechanics.
Isokinetic Strength Testing
Isokinetic strength testing utilizes advanced computer software to allow for isolated joint testing. Strength, range of motion, acceleration, endurance, and force output are all recorded at different velocities to mimic different activities. This allows us to analyze muscle imbalances, side-to-side deficits, and identify potential injury risks. Combined with the latest research, we develop an effective rehabilitation program and ensure a safe return to activity. It is particularly useful for athletes recovering from injury, older adults working on regaining functional strength, and individuals looking to optimize performance or prevent future injury. This test provides hard data that helps quantify progress over time and guide precise therapeutic interventions. These insights can also be used to educate patients on proper training techniques and to monitor changes in strength post-rehabilitation or surgery.
HUMAC Interactive Balance Screen
The HUMAC balance screen utilizes a force plate to assess weight bearing asymmetries, fall risks, balance performance, sports training, and concussion screening. Numerous tests challenge you in different planes of motion at varying degrees of difficulties. Once a baseline is established, a formal training protocol is issued to improve balance, coordination, proprioception, neuromuscular control, and strength. This component is especially valuable for patients recovering from neurological conditions, athletes requiring dynamic balance control, and seniors aiming to minimize fall risk. It provides measurable insights that help prevent debilitating injuries and build long-term stability. With consistent tracking, we can also assess balance progression across multiple sessions and adjust training regimens accordingly.
Body Composition Testing
Undergoing body composition analysis will help you understand body weight on a more analytical level. Instead of using BMI, which is outdated and unreliable, the InBody body composition scanner breaks down your body into its four main components – water, protein (muscle), minerals (bone), and fat. It provides detailed segmental analysis of your arms, legs, and trunk. This information is critical not just for athletes or fitness enthusiasts, but also for those managing chronic health conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and obesity. We use these insights to provide nutritional guidance and exercise plans that complement your physical therapy journey. Patients are often surprised by the depth of data provided, which allows for specific goal-setting and more individualized care planning.
This scan provides important indicators for your overall health including:
- Detailed segmental analysis of lean muscle vs fat
- Basal metabolic rate (The number of calories burned at rest)
- Visceral fat (fat around organs)
- Edema index (extracellular water vs total body water)
- Cellular health
Functional Movement Screen
The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is a standardized assessment that evaluates how individuals move in everyday life, regardless of age. By considering both mobility and stability, the FMS provides valuable insights into movement patterns. This information allows us to create targeted exercise programs that reduce injury risk, improve performance, and correct dysfunctional movement patterns. Functional limitations and asymmetries can be identified and addressed before they lead to injury. Athletes, office workers, and aging adults alike benefit from better posture, enhanced flexibility, and improved coordination. Results from the FMS often illuminate the underlying causes of pain or inefficiency in common activities like walking, lifting, or sitting. By applying the insights gained through FMS, we aim to elevate everyday function and athletic potential in equal measure.
Y- Balance Screen
The Y Balance Test (YBT) is a simple yet reliable assessment of dynamic balance, measuring the interaction between your core and extremities under body weight. By evaluating strength, stability, and balance in various directions across your upper and lower body, the YBT effectively identifies functional asymmetries and potential injury risks. This valuable information allows for targeted interventions that address movement deficits while enhancing overall performance. It helps determine if you’re ready to return to sport, need to build core strength, or require further physical therapy. Because it measures functional performance in a variety of directions, the YBT serves as a predictive tool for future injury and helps us fine-tune your care plan accordingly. We also integrate YBT data into sport-specific rehabilitation and long-term wellness strategies for improved functional outcomes.
