Before Your Physical Therapy Appointment at OrthoRehab
Welcome to OrthoRehab Physical Therapy, where our experienced orthopedic and sports rehabilitation specialists are committed to helping you achieve optimal recovery and wellness. To ensure your first visit goes smoothly and you receive the most effective treatment possible, we’ve compiled this comprehensive guide to help you prepare for your appointment.
Arrival Time and Check-In Process
Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. This allows adequate time for completing any remaining paperwork, updating insurance information, and settling in before your evaluation begins. Our friendly front desk staff will guide you through the check-in process and answer any questions you may have about your upcoming treatment.
What to Expect During Your Initial Evaluation
Your first appointment at OrthoRehab typically lasts approximately one hour, though session length may vary from thirty to ninety minutes depending on your specific condition and evaluation needs. During this comprehensive initial assessment, your physical therapist will conduct a thorough evaluation of your condition, discuss your medical history, establish treatment goals, and develop a personalized rehabilitation plan tailored to your unique needs and recovery objectives.
Treatment Frequency and Duration
Following your initial evaluation, most patients benefit from attending physical therapy sessions one to three times per week during the active phase of treatment. As your symptoms improve and you progress through your rehabilitation program, visit frequency typically decreases while you transition to a more independent home exercise program. Your therapist will continuously monitor your progress and adjust your treatment plan accordingly to ensure optimal outcomes.
What to Wear to Your Appointment
Choosing appropriate clothing for your physical therapy session helps ensure your therapist can properly assess and treat your condition. For patients with lower extremity injuries, back problems, or hip conditions, we recommend wearing comfortable shorts or loose-fitting exercise pants that allow easy movement and access to the treatment area. Please bring or wear appropriate athletic footwear, especially if you’re being treated for foot, ankle, or gait-related issues. For upper body conditions, consider wearing a tank top or loose-fitting shirt that provides easy access to the shoulder and arm area.
Medical Records and Privacy Protection
At OrthoRehab, we take your privacy seriously and comply with all HIPAA regulations to protect your personal health information. Your medical records are always available to you upon request. To obtain copies of your records or have them sent to another healthcare provider, insurance company, or designated recipient, we require a signed authorization form. Our staff can assist you with this process and answer any questions about your medical documentation.
