Before you leave the office after your first visit, here are a few things that your physical therapist will want you to know about your care.
Where To Turn
We also want a patient to understand where they should turn if they have questions. The internet can be a great resource of information, but it might not be the best source for your specific injury. We can give you recommendations based on your specific injuries and imaging results, so we want patients to understand that if they have any questions and concerns, they can reach out to us. You don’t need to wait until your next appointment, give our team a call and ask us your questions.
Progress May Be Slow
Finally, we hope that all patients who leave our office for the first time to understand that injury recovery is a long game. Obviously we hope that you see some small improvements on a daily or weekly basis, but know that you’re unlikely to see a miraculous recovery in a few short weeks. Don’t get discouraged by this slow progress, because as long as your health is trending in the right direction, you’re doing the right thing. It’s going to take some time to not only let structures heal, but to build up muscles and ligaments to pre-injury condition. It will take time and effort, but trust us when we say it will be worth it. And if you’re struggling with your lack of progress, please speak up. We’d be glad to address your concerns or point out how your rehab is progressing compared to what we expected. Odds are you’ve made more progress than you may realize!
