Direct access to physical therapy is your opportunity to be evaluated and treated by a licensed physical therapist without first seeing your physician for a prescription. Under Minnesota law, patients are allowed 90 days of treatment by a physical therapist without a physician referral. A chronic condition, previously diagnosed and documented by a physician, for which you have already been treated also needs no referral.
